    Description

    Introduction
The Rugged Case for the HP iPAQ Pocket PC is designed and tested to resist display damage, dust and water contamination, and damage caused by dropping the iPAQ Pocket PC from a height of up to four feet. The rugged case makes it easier for you to take your handheld with you, wherever you go. A hard plastic cover on the Rugged Case protects the iPAQ Pocket PC, yet still allows you to view the screen. When the cover is raised, the replaceable, clear protective screen protector of the case remains in place, revealing the screen below, allowing you to use your iPAQ while still maintaining protection. The lower portion of the screen protector can flip up to access the fingerprint reader on the iPAQ 5400 series Pocket PC models. Even while using the iPAQ Pocket PC, the case meets IP54 requirements for protection against dust and water contamination. The Rugged Case also allows the iPAQ Pocket PC user to access the DC jack and universal connector via tethered plugs.

    Key Features
    Flip-up door
    – The flip-up door is made from a tough polycarbonate frame (black) and window. When closed, the flip-up door provides protection to the flexible membrane and iPAQ Pocket PC unit. The rigid clear polycarbonate window is sized to allow you to see the display on all accommodated iPAQ Pocket PC models. The window is hard-coated for scratch and abrasion resistance.
    Screen Protector
    – A flexible screen protector membrane allows you to access the touch screen and all front buttons of the iPAQ Pocket PC. The lower portion of the screen protector flips up to access the fingerprint reader on the iPAQ 5400 series Pocket PC models. The membrane is made of a tough, tear resistant TPU film. The membrane fits snuggly in a groove located in the upper case half to provide a water and dust resistant seal. The membrane is resistant to discoloration from exposure to sunlight. The membrane is replaceable and is sold separately in three-packs of membranes.
    Removable belt clip
    – The robust clip is made from tough polycarbonate. The belt clip releases by pressing the snap release arm in a direction away from the main unit. The belt clip features a small hook at the end to prevent the clip form inadvertently slipping off. Replacement belt clips can be ordered separately.
    Upper and lower case halves
    – The case halves consist of a tough Polycarbonate structure (black) with scratch and mar resistant TPU elastomer (red) over-mold. Pass-through elastomer ribs cradle the iPAQ and absorb impact energy. The case halves are engaged first at the top where interlocking fingers provide positive engagement. The case halves then snap together on the opposite end. When brought together, features on the sides of the upper and lower case halves create a stylus holder.
The lower case half has attachment rails for the removable belt clip. Two small feet on the back provide a stable footing for the case when laid on its back (belt clip removed). The press to open button" is at the bottom of the lower case half. Loops on the lower-case half provide attachment points for a neck strap or lanyard. The tough, high elongation TPU has more than adequate strength to serve this purpose.
Openings in the upper case half provide access to the headphone jack, DC charging jack, and USB sync port. When not in use, these openings can be sealed with plugs. These plugs are tethered to the upper case half to prevent against loss. When installed, these plugs seal out water and dust to the IP-54 standard.
    Case Open Lock
    – The rugged case includes a means to lock the case halve snap. By turning the case open lock screw ¼ turn, you can lock or unlock the snap release and prevent the case halves from inadvertently coming apart or deter unauthorized opening of the case. The case open lock is designed to be operated with a T15 Torx screwdriver. Two icons and an indicator on the screw identify the case as locked or unlocked.
Removable IR window/expansion card access cover
    – At the top of the upper case half, an infrared (IR) transparent door serves two purposes. When closed, its transparency at the correct wavelength allows you to use the iPAQ Pocket PC's IR data port while maintaining water and dust resistance to IP-54 standards. The door can also be flipped open to allow access to the iPAQ Pocket PC card slots such as PC card, Compact Flash (CF) or Secure Digital. The IR transparent door is tethered to the upper case half by two tough TPU straps. The IR window is removable by sliding the tethers out of slots located in the upper housing.
    Extended Card Cover
    – The rugged case is shipped with a removable extended card cover made of the same polycarbonate structure and TPU elastomer over-mold as the case halves. When installed the extended card cover protects protruding PC, CF or SD cards from impact and maintains water and dust resistance. The extended card cover has a transparent window to allow the use of certain bar code scanner accessories.
    Spacer Pack
    – The rugged case is shipped with a black polycarbonate Spacer Pack.
    Compatibility
The HP Rugged Case is compatible with HP iPAQ h2200, h3000, h4100 and h5000 series Pocket PCs.
