Set of 2 beautiful no jar/overhang minimalist carpenter bee traps made with untreated pine. All holes drilled made on a drill press. They are unstained/ unpainted. They are sanded and Shou Sugi Ban torched for weather protection and aesthetics. Why have large unsightly chunks of lumber with dirty mason jars around your home when these little beauties are just as effective.
We made these traps to protect our log home in western North Carolina. They have worked very well for us. As friends and neighbors began to request them, we started to sell them online locally. We are now expanding our market online.
Here are some tips whether you buy our traps or others. Sunny areas are where the bees are most active. Leave a dead bee in each trap to attract other bees. If the traps are performing poorly, move them to a slightly different position. If possible, fill existing holes that the bees have created in your structure. Bait such as sugar water or honey is said to be effective, but we have found this messy and not really necessary.
